SAN DIEGO FITNESS RESOLUTIONS YOU NEED TO KEEP
Happy 2023! It's that time of year again to get in shape. This time for real! game. Ready to play? Seriously, though. It is a game I play every year, so I am with you. What year is it going to be in 2023? I may be able to meet my fitness goals in San Diego with these suggestions? How about you? Are you aiming to lose weight or get fit in 2023?
GO FOR A HIKE
San Diego offers great hiking trails for all levels. As you huff and puff, the beauty surrounding you will distract you. My recommendation for beginners is the hiking trails at Torrey Pines. A more advanced hiker may want to set the goal of doing the Mission Trails 5 Peak challenge. It might not be recognized with a medal, but it is still something to be proud of. A six-pack of peaks can be climbed by serious hikers, too.
If you don't want to hike alone, find hiking buddies on Facebook. As a hiker myself, I enjoy hitting the trails as much as possible. During 2023, I have committed to completing the San Diego Six Packs of Peaks. Isn't it true that if I write down my goals and announce them to the world, I am more likely to accomplish them? Stay tuned for updates on my hiking progress on the blog!
FIND A PERSONAL TRAINER
There's something about hiring a personal trainer that makes sense to me. Getting out of the couch and into the San Diego gym may be a matter of money, or maybe it is a matter of deep fear of having them screaming at you when your next weighing in? No, but in all seriousness. The experts at these fitness centers know what they are doing, and they can guide you toward meeting your fitness goals.
Groupon has great deals on personal training sessions if you are sticker shocked by the cost. They are abundant, especially at the start of the year.
SPEND TIME ON THE WATER
Getting into watersports might not make sense during winter, but at least you won't have to fight crowds on your runs or bike rides. Would kayaking or paddle boarding be of interest to you? Staying dry is relatively easy once you know what to do. Mission Bay and San Diego Bay are wonderful spots for newcomers to watersports in San Diego.
GET A FITNESS TRACKER
My fitness tracker really helped me improve my health a few years ago. As a result, I take Robby for extra walks at night or, if I'm really desperate, I run around the living room like a crazy person. I mean, after all, every step counts, right?
ROUTES TO GO RIDING & RUNNING
It can be really helpful to change scenery. Throughout San Diego, there are fantastic running routes, trail running options, and bike paths for every level of runner. You will find something that will keep you entertained and make your workout session more enjoyable, whether you run or ride through downtown or explore nature.
FIND A FITNESS BUDDY
Research shows you are more likely to follow through if you make a commitment not just to yourself, but to someone else as well. If you know your friend is waiting for you at the gym or trailhead, you cannot disappoint them.
Having someone who can kindle your spirit during low points and celebrate your successes is also beneficial. A bit of experience can also be a valuable asset. You're also not as intimidated when you go to unfamiliar places (a gym) or place you don't know anyone (your first race). Find yourself a training partner and start training!
FIND THE PERFECT GYM
I have to admit. It is not my habit to go to the San Diego gym. At least not anymore. As a personal trainer once a week, I met with me several times per week, and that was when I really saw results. A few sessions of cardio and weightlifting a week really helped me. After a few months, I decided to run my first 5k. Then a 10k. On the couch, I fell off the wagon. Funny how that happens
MEDITATION & YOGA: FIND YOUR ZEN
Often, we focus on the body when getting fit and forget the mind. Staying focused during your workout is easier when you meditate. You will be better equipped to handle tough workouts or unplanned situations if you strengthen your mind. I love the Headspace App. A variety of meditation courses are available from beginner to advanced, as well as meditations geared toward fitness, such as walking meditations.
Practicing yoga can also help you get in shape physically and mentally. By practicing, you strengthen your muscles, become more flexible, and learn how to control your breathing. In vigorous forms of yoga, such as Vinyasa or Hot Yoga, you can burn over 500 calories per hour.
The main key to staying fit in San Diego is to maintain it. In order to find what you truly enjoy and enjoy, you should try a variety of things. Motivating yourself by the scale alone is usually insufficient. Take action now to ensure you're prepared to face the challenges ahead.
